The Rockefeller Museum collection in Jerusalem contains a strange inscription written in mosaic tiles from a Jewish town called Ein Gedi. The mysterious inscription reveals what will happen to anyone who reveals the town’s secret. The literal translation is complex, filled with allusions to “anger,” “punishment” and an “all seeing eye.”
