Inside the Royal Ontario Museum: Episode trailer
In the third of our six episode trailers, Museum Secrets goes inside the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) to reveal the hidden secrets of this eye-popping Toronto landmark.
Watch the trailer for a sneak peak of episode 3, Inside the Royal Ontario Museum.
You may be surprised to know that there are more than six million artifacts found within the ROM’s walls and in this episode we investigate some of the best.
First, we discover why a tiny Egyptian baby mummy died 2000 years ago and we unwrap it to find out. We field-test two theories about whether 12th Century Islamic vessels were used as either bongs or bombs. We tell the tale of a colossal dinosaur lost for decades within the museum’s walls, and we go to the shooting range to discover why the musket supplanted the crossbow (it’s not what you think, but more on that later this week on the blog). Then we meet the great-great grandson of Sitting Bull, who uses spiritual means to discern whether the museum’s prized Sioux headdress was ever worn by his illustrious ancestor. And finally, we examine the stuffed remains of a 1930s prize-winning bulldog named Bungie to uncover a disturbing revelation about the dangers of unnatural selection and the practices of dog breeding.
Museum Secrets airs on History Television (Canada). International air dates will be announced here - so stay tuned.
